<p>No need to make sacrifices! Just follow these simple guidelines to lose your first 10 pounds, last 10 pounds or give your weight loss program a boost when it seems to have puttered to a halt. This is a balanced and flexible plan that you can use for as long as you want.</p>
<p>1. Keep a note of everything that you eat and drink. You do not need to estimate calories. Just write down what it was that you had and the approximate quantity. You will find that making yourself more aware of what you&#8217;re eating helps you to plan healthy meals and snacks.</p>
<p>2. Halve your intake of all pure or added fats. This means using half as much butter or spread on your bread, toast, muffins and potatoes; half the usual amount of mayonnaise or sauce on your salad; and half the oil in the frypan every time.</p>
<p>3. Limit treats containing sugar to three times per week. This includes chocolate, ice cream, desserts, cake, pastries, cookies, etc. (my hardest to give up)</p>

<p>6. Reduce the fat content in your milk products. If you are currently drinking whole milk, reduce to 2% fat. From 2% reduce to 1%. Choose lower fat cheese and yogurt. When you buy yogurt, also check that it does not contain sugar.</p>
<p>7. Have at least two servings of fruit every day. This can be for dessert or snacks. Choose fruit that is in season.</p>
<p>8. Drink water instead of sodas, juices, milky drinks or alcohol. Avoid diet soda &#8211; the sweet taste only encourages you to crave sugar. Hot water with a slice of lemon can be very refreshing in the morning.</p>
<p>9. Include at least two servings of vegetables at lunch and dinner. If you are getting hungry, have more.</p>
<p>10. Eat slowly. The body is slow to register when you are full and it is easy to eat too much if you are racing through your meals.</p>
<p>11. Grated carrot makes a great snack. You will find that a grated carrot is much more filling than a whole carrot. Strange but true.</p>
<p>12. Use whole grains wherever possible. The fiber will give you a fuller feeling and also help your digestion.</p>
<p>13. Choose food that you can chew. Again this will increase your fiber intake, and the act of chewing will make you feel more satisfied too. This means eating fruit instead of drinking juice. If you have soup, make sure it is chunky.</p>

<p>4 eggs<br />
2 Tbsp. heavy cream<br />
meat (ham, bacon, chicken, turkey, pot roast, shrimp, etc)<br />
cheese (cheddar, swiss, mozzarella, etc.)<br />
vegetables (sautéed mushrooms, sautéed onions, tomatoes, sautéed peppers, etc.)<br />
herbs (parsley, chives, dill, etc.)</p>
<p>Beat the eggs and cream together until the eggs start to turn a pale golden color.  Pour the mixture into a frying pan greased lightly with butter.  Cook over medium low heat until the eggs start to look cooked at the edges.  Don’t stir or flip!</p>
<p>Place the remaining ingredients in the center of the omelet and then fold one side carefully over the other to form a half moon.  Continue cooking until the eggs have cooked completely and the cheese has melted.</p>
<p><strong>Low Carb Meatloaf</strong></p>
<p>1 pound ground beef<br />
1 small onion, minced<br />
1 green pepper, minced<br />
2 tsp. Italian seasoning<br />
6 cups pork skins, crushed finely<br />
4 eggs<br />
1-2 Tbsp. Hot pepper sauce, if desired<br />
1 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce, if desired</p>
<p>Mix all ingredients together.  Place in a loaf pan and bake at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 45 minutes to 1 hour.  Check to see that the inside is no longer pink.  Serve topped with low carb ketchup, hot sauce, mustard, or another low carb sauce of your choice.</p>
<p><strong>Low Carb Chicken Soup</strong></p>
<p>3-4 boneless chicken breasts<br />
1 small onion<br />
4 cloves garlic<br />
2 carrots, peeled and sliced<br />
2 stalks celery, peeled and sliced<br />
1 red pepper, diced<br />
salt and pepper to taste</p>
<p>Put all ingredients in a large stock pot and cover with water.  Bring to a boil.  Reduce heat to a gentle boil and cook until vegetables are tender and chicken is cooked through.  Remove chicken from soup and allow to cool enough to handle.  Dice chicken and return to soup.  Serve hot.</p>
<p><strong>Sausage Gravy</strong></p>
<p>6 patties breakfast sausage<br />
1 cup heavy cream<br />
salt and pepper to taste</p>
<p>Fry sausage until done.  Drain all but 1-2 Tbsp. of sausage grease from the pan and add the cream.  Simmer cream until slightly thickened.  Crumble sausage and add to cream.  Add salt and plenty of black pepper.  Serve over scrambled eggs.</p>
<p><strong>Pork Chops with Gravy</strong></p>
<p>2-4 boneless pork chops<br />
1 cup heavy cream<br />
1 Tbsp. butter<br />
1 Tbsp. vegetable oil<br />
salt and pepper to taste</p>
<p>Sautee pork chops until thoroughly cooked in mixture of butter and oil.  Drain all but 1-2 Tbsp. of grease from the pan and add cream.  Simmer until slightly thickened.  Add salt and plenty of black pepper.  Serve gravy over pork chops.</p>

<p>The Atkins diet will allow for a few carbs while the South Beach diet does not allow for any at first.  You will need to give up carbs entirely and you will be allowed to eat proteins only.  Proteins are included in fresh meat, fish and poultry.  You will also need to eat a lot of fresh vegetables and fruits on the South Beach diet.</p>
<p>Before embarking on the South Beach diet, you should consult your family physician to make sure you do not have any health issues that would make this diet dangerous to you.  The reason this can be dangerous is because a high protein diet can be harmful to the heart in many ways.  If you are not careful and eat too much of the proteins that contain large amounts of cholesterol, you will definitely have issues with your heart.  By speaking to your family doctor first, they can set you up with the foods that will work in conjunction with the South Beach diet.</p>
<p>This will make weight loss with the South Beach diet a healthier option of those who may have heart issues.  If you are not having any health issues, then the South Beach diet will be a good choice for you if you can stick to it.  The South Beach diet is really not a diet but a change of lifestyle.</p>
<p>This starts with your eating habits and then progresses to exercise which you are probably not getting if you are over weight.  By changing the way you look at food, you will be in more control of what and how much you eat.  When you add exercise to the mix, you will optimize your likelihood for healthy weight loss and the South Beach diet will help with that if you follow it correctly.</p>
